Pre & Post Natal Pilates

Prenatal Pilates

Simply put, a practice of pilates during and after pregnancy can be extremely beneficial to mom and baby. A prenatal pilates program can help assist pregnant women in achieving body awareness, control, relaxation and confidence. It can also help educate women on the importance of breath, empower women to honor the power of their own body, and even prevent some of the common discomforts associated with pregnancy. Taught with compassion and recognition of the individual’s wants and needs, a prenatal pilates practice is a wonderful tool to help throughout this wonderful time in a woman’s life.

Postnatal Pilates

A pilates practice post pregnancy can be just as, if not, more beneficial than prenatal pilates. It will help educate women on the changes that their body went through and how to properly condition and heal the body properly after giving birth. Creating safe and effective movements to help the abdomen and pelvic floor heal, pilates will also help teach the individual the value of correct body mechanics and movement patterns. It is important that the woman feels proud of what her body was just able to accomplish and how to appreciate the way her body moves and feels now.
